July Clinical Evaluation at Cornell
July, 2009
The first Artemis 3 field-ready prototype was evaluated by Dr. D. Jackson Coleman and Dr. Ronald Silverman at Weill Cornell Medical College, as part of ongoing research into ophthalmic ultrasound. The researchers scanned 12 study volunteers using both the Artemis 2 and the prototype Artemis 3.
Dr. Coleman commented: "Overall, we found the new Artemis 3 to be both user and patient friendly. The quality of the scans was excellent, and show significant improvement over the lens imaging from previous Artemis models. The new application of scanning the lens capsule looks very promising, and offers a matchless improvement over present imaging techniques. The prototype Artemis 3 certainly met our expectations. The capsular and zonular pictures were exceptional and unique. The quality of imaging of the cornea and the ciliary body region have been maintained from previous Artemis models."
The researchers have recommended a few modifications based on their experiences with the prototype. They have expressed their confidence that the Artemis 3 will become an essential diagnostic and surgical planning instrument for ophthalmologists.
